The Art of Destruction with Piers Secunda

Piers Secunda is a London-based artist whose work explores some of the most pressing subjects of our time, including the deliberate destruction of heritage. His powerful installation, Damage Field (Ashmolean Relief) 2020, is part of the Ashmolean’s 2021 exhibition ‘Owning the Past: From Mesopotamia to Iraq’. In this talk Piers explores his creative process, which includes working directly in conflict regions, to make sculpture-like paintings that reveal the importance of heritage in people’s lives.
